ANCIENT GREEK WITH ALEXANDROS
Learn Ancient Greek. With Feeling and Immersion
Three methods: Classical rigor, Intuitive fluency, and Archaeological immersion.Language, Literature, History, and Archaeology—woven together, not separated.

My Three Methods
"Before choosing a textbook, you have to choose your philosophy." Because there isn't one way to learn Ancient Greek. There are three. the "best" method always depends on the learner's goal.
CLASSICAL METHOD
essential both for starting the language and for analyzing difficult philosophical texts. To interpret Plato's line of thought or the logical sequence of Aristotle.
INTUTIVE METHOD
feel the epic adventures of Homer and Hesiod, the lyrical reflections of Sappho, the tragic plots of Aeschylus. You will mainly need intuition and a holistic approach.
ARCHAEOLOGY METHOD
become an adventurer along difficult and untrodden paths to find either historical data, philosophical views, or unknown mythological narratives.
Eras of Ancient Greek Language
Living arc of a language that shaped the world—tailored to your goals
MYCENEAN GREEK
The earliest attested Greek, scratched onto clay tablets in Linear B. Raw and utterly fascinating. You'll read the oldest European literature and touch the very beginnings of Western civilization.
EPIC GREEK
The language of Homer. Formulaic beauty, and the rhythm of oral tradition. Reading the Iliad and Odyssey as they were meant to be heard—not just translated, but felt.
LYRIC GREEK
The language of the heart. Sappho, Pindar, Alcaeus—poetry sung to the lyre, brimming with love, loss, victory. Meters that dance, images that burn, and an intimate voice.
CLASSICAL GREEK
The Golden Age. Plato, Sophocles, Thucydides, Demosthenes. Democracy, philosophy, and tragedy—the Attic dialect that became the gold standard. Master this and unlock the intellectual bedrock of the West.
KOINE-BIBLICAL GREEK
The common tongue of the Hellenistic world. The language of the New Testament. Accessible, alive, and essential for theology, history. Reading the Gospels in their original voice.
